About The artist

It is a curious and uncharted territory that lies before today’s jewelry artists and artisans, which compels and fascinates me.

There exist dual, and often diametrically opposed, paths through which I attempt to explore the binary nature of contemporary art jewelry: rooted in tradition and technique in order to fulfill the basic human need for ornament, while also keeping pace with the contemporary exploration of new materials, ideas, and processes.  Rather than conceptually-driven pieces, my work primarily consists of explorations of color and form, or experiments in mixing new media with traditional sensibilities.

Much of my work is a technical exploration of the limits of technique and innovation, using and developing experimental methods alongside traditional materials, media, and examining the results through the lenses of both the principles of scientific investigation and the formal principles of aesthetic analysis.

It is through this honoring traditional knowledge and practices of the art of handcrafting a beautiful object, while simultaneously experimenting with the tumultuous intersection of art and technology which is our present human condition, that I find myself probing at in the most basic, fundamentally investigatory manner.
